Reason # 2! The Double Agent.

In my last blog post, we looked at why running comfortably is so important for endurance athletes. The focus yesterday was energy.


Today, let's take a look at reason # 2!

Did you know...


That we have two different types of muscle fibers: slow twitch and fast twitch. Slow twitch muscle fibers are an endurance runners best friend as they are the most fatigue resistant. The ratio of slow twitch and fast twitch fibers are genetically determined. Some people are simply genetically lucky! 😜


BUT, there are fast twitch muscle fibers that act as double agents. They can be trained to act more like slow twitch muscle fibers. To train them, we have to run easy and aerobically.
