"Mastering Motivation: A Quick Guide to Achieving Your Goals"

Updated: Dec 10, 2023

Embarking on that initial blog post can feel like stepping into a vast expanse of possibilities, doesn't it? Let's begin where every great journey starts: motivation.

Motivation—the spark that ignites action. Some days, it's an unwavering force, propelling us out of bed with enthusiasm. Other days (ah, yesterday), it's a bit like coaxing oneself off the couch just to grab the forgotten remote next to the popcorn.

But motivation isn't a constant, it ebbs and flows. And guess what? That's perfectly normal. Rather than wrestling with self-blame, let's prepare for these fluctuations and equip ourselves with strategies to navigate those low tides.

Here's a "Quick Guide" I've found helpful when embarking on a new goal. Personally, I scribble these prompts on my bathroom mirror, ensuring a daily reminder. Maybe they'll resonate with some of you too!

1. Define your Goal, find your “Why” and visualize it!

Why the workout or training routine? Is it about enhancing health, shedding weight, improving your running pace, or perhaps tackling that daunting 30-hour Ultra marathon in October? Pinpoint that ultimate goal and jot it down.

2. Dig deeper: Why?

Keep questioning, like an adorable yet persistent 3-year-old, until you unearth the core reason. This becomes the driving force, the magnetic pull toward your goal. Write this down—it's crucial!

3. Visualize the Destination

Close those eyes—yes, after finishing this read. Envision yourself at the end of this journey. Picture how your life transforms, how you interact with the world anew.

When motivation takes a dip, revisit these written motivations and dive back into that visualization.

Remember, it's okay for motivation to fluctuate; what matters is how we navigate those peaks and troughs. #running #motivation
